The Biggest SERP Flux Since Penguin 2.0

Algoroo has measured the highest recorded level of SERP flux in Google since Penguin 2.0. The jump happened on the 17th of December, following a week of intermittent fluctuation in results.

Our team has already investigated the cause and there doesn’t seem to be a reason to believe this was a layout change or a technical error.…

After submitting my application to join Google Helpouts I had a video interview with a Google Helpouts team member and my listing was approved. I embraced the platform with great enthusiasm, as it allowed me to give back to the community and provide free support to webmasters in need of guidance and ideas for their website.

Fifth Most Turbulent Day in Google This Year

Algoroo November 2013

Algoroo measured an extremely high level of SERP flux in Google last night indicating that something significant has changed in the way search results are displayed. This may reflect internal changes such as ranking or search quality algorithm updates. The jump happened on the 27th of November, following an unusually quiet fortnight between the 3rd and 19th and a rather active weekend just days before the big SERP flux.

Google SERP Curve Ball – Test?

SERP Curveball Google’s latest curve ball in the SERPs with ‘Product Listing Ads‘ being tested!

So is what sort of impact this may have on the look of Serp’s and most importantly the impact to real world business, time will tell. My thoughts are, authentic retailers may well be a little bitter over this latest update pushing them towards Adwords spend and indeed Google Shopping vs focusing energy on organic efforts.

Successfully Cloaking in 2013?

I am well-aware that Google’s algorithm is work in progress and they continuously work on improving their search quality algorithm. What I saw today, however, makes me wonder if I give the algorithm too much credit.

Search query “assumptious“ brings up the following page:

I was shocked to see something like this ranking as #1 even for rare queries.

OMG! Algorithm Update is off the Scale

Matt Cutts wasn’t wrong, the latest algorithm change was major. Algoroo was off the scale yesterday, we don’t even have a gauge that goes that high in our roo metric widget.

Even though the estimated percentage of affected queries was apparently quite low, we’re still seeing major fluctuations (both ups and downs) in the 10,000 tracked keywords.

It started in Australia as many webmasters and SEOs noticed a Venice-like update and now it looks like we’re looking at a global algorithm change.
